Seeing your products on Google Search is no longer the whole game.
If shoppers are using Google AI Mode to ask things like “best office chair for lower-back pain under $300” or “which running shoes suit flat feet?”, your store can potentially appear inside those AI-powered responses too. The problem is that many merchants have no clue whether Google is actually surfacing them there.
That makes checking your store’s visibility in Google AI Mode something worth doing now—not six months after competitors start collecting the clicks.
If you’re still building your ecommerce setup, you can start with Shopify or explore StoreClaw as part of your store-management stack.

1. Open the Generative AI Report in Search Console
Google now has a Generative AI performance report inside Search Console.
It includes impressions from AI Mode and AI Overviews, showing which pages appeared, how visibility changes over time, and where those impressions came from. Google rolled the report out worldwide in August 2026.
If your store has data here, you already have direct evidence that Google’s AI surfaces are showing your pages.
2. Check Which Product Pages Receive AI Impressions
Inside that report, switch to the Pages dimension.
Look for individual product URLs receiving impressions. A product page appearing repeatedly is far more useful information than simply knowing your homepage exists in Google.
Pay particular attention to pages gaining impressions but almost no clicks. Visibility without action can reveal weak titles, vague product descriptions, poor pricing signals, or simply a mismatch with buyer intent.
3. Check Your Merchant Center AI Performance Insights
For eligible Merchant Center accounts, Google also provides AI performance insights.
These reports can show brand visibility across AI shopping journeys, product terms customers use and product attributes such as color, material or style that shoppers mention.
Availability currently covers English-language queries for accounts in the United States, Canada, Australia, India and New Zealand.
If you have access, use it. Guessing whether AI can “see” your products while Google literally gives you a report would be impressive in the wrong way.
4. Search Real Buyer Questions in AI Mode
Don’t test only your brand name.
Search the questions customers would actually ask:
- “Best waterproof backpack under $100”
- “Which desk is good for a small apartment?”
- “Best skincare products for oily skin”
Then inspect whether your store, competitors or individual products appear.
Run several variations because AI Mode breaks queries into subtopics and can search multiple related areas simultaneously.
5. Check Whether Google Can Understand Your Products
Open Merchant Center and inspect your product data.
Google can automatically discover products by crawling your site and reading structured information such as title, price and availability.
Missing attributes hurt your chances of matching detailed conversational searches.
For example, “black leather office chair with adjustable lumbar support” gives Google far more usable information than “Executive Chair Model 400.”
6. Confirm Your Store Is Included in Generative AI Search
Inside Search Console, go to:
Settings → Search generative AI
Google now lets site owners choose whether their links and content can appear in AI Mode, AI Overviews and other supported generative Search features.
Make sure your store hasn’t been excluded accidentally.

7. Track Visibility Monthly, Not Once
AI visibility moves.
Record monthly:
AI impressions → pages appearing → clicks → product terms → conversions
One screenshot tells you almost nothing. Three months of movement tells you whether your product data and content are actually improving.

And before chasing more visibility, make sure the store itself deserves the click. You can build with Shopify or explore StoreClaw.
To check your store’s visibility in Google AI Mode, start with Search Console’s Generative AI report, then combine it with Merchant Center insights, manual buyer-intent searches and strong product data.
AI visibility is no longer completely invisible.
Use the data Google is finally giving you.
